The river is returning. But something beneath the Twin Valleys has changed.
After the discoveries beneath the Listening Tree, Amara hoped the recovering river meant life in Jegede and Tumo could begin to settle again. Then the measurements stop agreeing. One branch of the river falls while another outlet rises, and somewhere beneath the valleys, water is travelling where nobody expects.
Following the mystery into Koruma, Amara, Kito, Sewa and Tarek discover ancient passages built for the Stone Keepers, hidden waterways shaped around living roots, a sanctuary where white hornbills have survived unseen for generations, and a vast underground hall where water is divided across the land.
But they are not the only ones exploring Koruma.
Fresh footprints cross forgotten passages. Ancient mechanisms have been altered. New marks appear beside old Storykeeper records. Someone else is moving through the darkness, and seems to understand parts of Koruma that Amara and her friends do not.
As the children try to protect a failing sanctuary and restore water to the places that need it, one careful change produces consequences they never expected. They begin to understand that Koruma is not a collection of separate mysteries. Water, roots, animals, fields, villages and people are all connected.
And caring for one part means learning what your actions may change somewhere else.
The Living Harmony is Book Two of The Koruma Series, an African inspired fantasy adventure about friendship, discovery, shared knowledge and the unseen connections that hold a world together.
