Twelve year old Amara has always been curious about the ancient baobab overlooking the Twin Valleys. When she begins hearing a mysterious whisper among its roots, strange changes soon follow. Birds abandon the valley, the river falls out of rhythm, and unfamiliar markings appear where none existed before. The arrival of Lumo, an elderly Storykeeper carrying songs and memories from distant places, offers the first clues. But when Lumo disappears, Amara and her friends set out to find him and uncover a hidden world beneath the land they have always called home. There they encounter forgotten waterways, ancient stories, living sanctuaries and evidence of a civilisation whose understanding of nature, memory and community has survived long after its people were forgotten.
